No IT support yet? Why you should start with a part-timer.
Growing businesses face growing tech problems — but hiring a full-time IT person often doesn’t make financial sense yet. Stratum Technologies gives you dedicated IT support on a part time basis, so your systems stay reliable without the overhead of a full-time salary.
Expertise
You no longer need to ask your staff who is “good with computers” when it’s not their job scope.
On-going care
Don’t wait until something breaks. Prevention is better than cure.
Staff Productivity
When IT is no longer a burden, your staff can focus on their job.
Scaling with you.
As your business grows, so can our scope. Without starting over with a new provider.
Comparison with full-time IT
Part-time doesn’t have the risks and costs that full-time does
A full-time internal IT hire in Malaysia costs roughly RM50,000–80,000 a year once you add salary, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, a laptop and software. Part-time support is RM36,000 a year — and you only pay for the hours your business actually needs.

Best suited to
5–25 staff with no full-time IT need yet
40+ staff, daily hardware volume, in-house development
When a full-time hire is the right call
If you have 50 or more staff, a steady daily stream of hardware and desk-side problems, or in-house software development, you need someone on site every day. We’ll tell you so — and we’re happy to support them as a second pair of hands on the things one person can’t cover alone.
Scope of Work
What RM3,000 a month gets you
The same amount every month, not a bill per problem.
Helpdesk and user support
Remote support during business hours, for every staff member
Password resets and locked accounts (Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace)
Email that won’t sync, mailboxes that are full, mail that lands in spam
Laptops and desktops that run slow, won’t boot, or have no space left
Printers, scanners and shared drives that stopped talking to the network
Software installed, licensed and activated on your machines4
Setting up staff to work from home securely
Devices, users and access
New staff accounts, email, groups and permissions set up correctly
New laptops prepared: Windows or macOS install, updates, apps, encryption, antivirus, files migrated1
Leavers locked out the same day: access revoked, email and files handed over, device wiped and reused
An asset register: what you own, who has it, warranty dates, licence counts
Work email on phones, with remote wipe if a phone goes missing7
Network and internet
WiFi coverage checked, dead zones fixed, access points placed properly12
Guest WiFi separated from the network your business runs on
Router and firewall configured and hardened
Chasing the telco for you when the line drops
Remote access so your team can reach office files and printers
Tracking recurring dropouts and intermittent faults to the actual cause
Backup and recovery
Backup configured for the machines, mail and shared files that matter
Backup monitored monthly, with restore tests — we prove it works
A written one-page plan for a failed laptop, a stolen device, ransomware
Offline or local copies so a ransomware attack can’t encrypt the backups too
Security
Multi-factor authentication on email, cloud, accounting and anything money-related
A monthly patch cycle so Windows, macOS and browser updates actually install
Antivirus or endpoint protection installed, with alerts watched
Spam filtering and email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) so your quotes and invoices reach clients
Staff guidance on the scams that actually arrive here: fake supplier invoices, “urgent transfer” requests, delivery scams
Access reviews — checking who still has access to what after every departure
Practical data-handling controls for customer records, in line with PDPA requirements6
Wi-Fi and router audits: no open ports or default admin passwords left behind
Cloud and software
Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace administration: users, licences, groups, shared mailboxes, aliases
Business software kept working and updated: accounting, POS, CRM, HR4
Subscription review — finding what you pay for and don’t use
Licence compliance, so a software audit isn’t a surprise6
Vendor escalation: when your software vendor’s support goes in circles, we make the call
The monthly rhythm
One scheduled on-site day, plus remote help between visits
A one-page monthly report in plain language
A health check every month: disk space, failed updates, backup status, antivirus, open issues
Recurring problems traced to the root instead of reset for the third time
One improvement a month, at most — no disruption for its own sake
A quarterly sit-down on what to plan, replace and budget for this year
Growth and change
New office or relocation: internet, cabling and WiFi planned before the renovation, not after2
New hires, new branch, new system — scoped and set up3
Advice before you buy, including when the honest answer is “you don’t need that”
Straight talk on when you’ve outgrown part-time support
How to start
Before anything else, a free consultation
We start by looking at what you actually run. On site or on a call, we go through your setup: who uses what, what breaks most often, who fixes it today, what isn’t backed up, and what software you’re paying for.
You leave the consultation with:
A straight read on what needs attention now, and what can wait
The gaps that would cost you the most if something failed this week
A written plan and price, if it’s a fit
No charge, no obligation, no sales deck.

RM300 — a single on-site visit up to 2 hours within the Klang Valley, travel included
RM600 — up to half a day (4 hours) on site, plus remote follow-up
A written note afterwards of what we found and what to watch for
No monthly fee, no retainer — you call when you need us5
It means a set number of hours a month — up to 20 — on a schedule we agree with you. You get a dedicated person who knows your systems, rather than paying for a full-time hire you don’t yet need.
How much does it cost?
Part-time IT Support is RM3,000 a month, flat. On-demand help is RM300–600 per site visit if you only want us when something breaks. Managed IT Services is quoted to your setup. All three start with a free consultation.
What if I need more than 20 hours in a month?
Just say so. We’ll bill the extra hours at RM150 each, approved by you first. If you’re regularly going over, we’ll tell you — at that point Managed IT Services usually works out better value.
Is there a contract?
Three months minimum so we can get your systems documented and stable, then month to month with 30 days’ notice.
Do you have to come on site?
Most issues are fixed remotely within the same business day, which is faster and cheaper for you. On-site visits are for what remote work can’t solve — hardware, cabling, WiFi, printers, new setups. Two visits a month within Klang Valley are included. Outside the Klang Valley, remote support still works and we quote travel for visits.
What’s the difference between Part Time IT Support and Managed IT Services?
Part-time gives you a set number of hours with a scheduled visit and a report each month. Managed IT Services is full ongoing coverage: round-the-clock monitoring, guaranteed response times, security management and an annual technology roadmap and budget. Businesses move up to it once their needs outgrow a part-time arrangement.
What happens when our usual person is on leave?
You contact the same address and number, and another engineer from our team picks it up. Nothing waits for anyone’s return.
Do we still need our own IT person?
If you have one, we work alongside them — taking the specialist work that’s hard to cover alone, or being the backup when they need it.
What if we’re not in the Klang Valley?
Remote support covers all of Malaysia. On-site visits are quoted with travel included for anywhere outside the Klang Valley.
